Part 2: Who makes up the special sauce of Sage Legal Group?

Independent Contractor: Tranquility and Operations, Heather King

Heather is our jack-of-all-trades, helping the team build out the system and stay on track with deadlines. Her DISC profile and communication style is Expressive-Driver (Influence-Dominance).

Fondest childhood memory? Heather and her best friend grew up on a dead-end street of only about 10 houses, running parallel to the Milwaukee River. She, her best friend, and their brothers played outside all day during the summer. It was amazing for her to grow up in this haven of nature where there was never any traffic, and the kids ran wild and free.

What brings her joy? Having an open day ahead of her to do whatever she wants. She loves to use her time to read, write, and listen to music. She loves that these hobbies don’t cost money, and can be done from anywhere in the world.

Her favorite time of day? The time right after the end of the work day. When she’s had a full, productive day, and now she gets to enjoy the other part of life. To unwind, have a glass of wine and  dinner, catch up with friends and family.

Who has made a great impact on her life? Her dad. There are times people tell her something about herself—she’s a good listener, good at asking questions, is curious — and she can directly trace those qualities back to what she learned from her dad. The way he demonstrated himself to his family and others—how he treats people with kindess.

What’s Heather great at? Positivity is her superpower. She can make people feel special, feel seen. She can rally behind others’ excitement.

What does she love about being part of the Sage team? “Unlimited possibilites. I love that when we have these collective meetings, we talk about ideas, and there’s not all this red tape that we have to go through to actually implement [these ideas]. Megann’s like—yep, take it and run with it. I can’t exactly see where we are [headed] in the future, but I don’t think [the firm] will stay small. That is really fascinating to me.”

Precision Specialist and Legal Intern, Katelyn Braunstein

With her steadfast attention to detail, Katelyn assists the legal team by adding in another layer of review. She ensures the documents that we pass on to our clients reflect Sage’s dedication to providing the highest level of quality. Her DISC profile and communication style is Analytical-Amiable (Compliance-Steadiness).

Fondest childhood memory? Spending time at her grandparents’ house in the summer. They had a boat out on the lake, and she remembers sitting in the captain’s seat, her grandfather giving her a turn to drive the boat. She loved that freeing feeling of being out on the water, basking in the sun, with the wind whipping past her face.

What brings her joy? The sky. The beautiful colors that can be found in the sky, especially during sunrise and sunset.

Her favorite time of day? The morning. She loves the calm right after waking up. When she was younger she didn’t give herself enough time in the morning—she always felt rushed. Now she wakes up early and has a cup of coffee and breakfast to start her day, giving herself time to enjoy the calm. Just one of the many habits she’s implementing to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Who has made a great impact on her life? Her dad. He taught her how to be calm, and to speak only when she has something important to say. He handles himself in a professional way, and he’s taught her how to plan out what she wants in life in order to become a strong leader.

What’s Katelyn great at? Maintaining her composure when faced with a high-stress situation. She prides herself on remaining collected and poised.

What does she love about being part of the Sage team? “It means everything to me right now. I learn a million things every day from [the team]. This is something I actually feel [I’m] good at. But because I still have so much to learn, I wouldn’t rather be in any other environment. [The work is] fun and interesting. It’s a great privilege."

Document Dispatch and Legal Intern, Lola Teatz

Lola is trusted with constructing the final package of our clients’ documents, and getting them out the door. Her diligence in putting the “Sage-like” final touches on our client files helps the legal team complete their projects. Her DISC profile and communication style is Amiable-Expressive (Steadiness-Influence).

Fondest childhood memory? When her little sister was born—it was on Christmas Day. She woke up in the car, riding to the hospital with her grandparents, and found out her mother was in labor. At the time, she was 12 years old, and she loved that day because she had the chance to celebrate Santa, and then welcome her sister into the world.

What brings her joy? Being around her friends and family—the people that put her in a good mood, the ones she loves the most.

Her favorite time of day? The afternoon. In the summer, it’s the hottest time of the day, and she loves spending time outside.

Who has made a great impact on her life? Her mom. She pushed Lola to leave her small hometown to pursue a degree at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Her mom reminds her often of her purpose in the world—to do good for others. Lola’s goal is to utilize her knowledge of the law to help those she cares about get through difficult stages in life.

What’s Lola great at? Helping friends get on track with both school and their future careers. Encouraging them to take risks and set goals of working towards the things they wish to accomplish.

What does she love about being part of the Sage team? “My favorite part about being at Sage is being a part of the team. It’s a very healthy [environment]. We all like each other and help each other. If I have a question, I can ask anyone and they’ll [assist ] me, no matter what. It’s helped me come a long way, and I’ve gotten [so much] experience for my future.”
